Why did I write again?

Yeah, I thought I’d quit blogging. I swear, I thought it wasn’t worth it, but then again, something came up. Something challenged what is important to me. So I wrote, and of course, it still was therapeutic. I do take women empowerment seriously, in words and action. It is important to me, to help out other women. And maybe, I do want to re-educate other people. I just don’t know how to do it well. Yes, my previous post contains some hostility. I’m sorry, I’m just human. I cannot tolerate people who think they’re better than others. But oh well, there’s always tomorrow. I hope you guys had a better day than I did.

Men better than women

You gotta read this anonymous comment from one of the readers

Fact : Men are better than women… Since then till now… It is a fact… Women who gets respected by men are women that know these facts.

Don’t get me wrong, no one is going to stop you if you want to be the next oprah or suze… The fact is that not too many succeed is because men are really better of at most things.

All comes down to what you want to do with your life. If you want to be that tough girl that wants to bash everyone in the head, go be a manly type girl. But I doubt you get the man you’ll dream of. This is every man’s fantasy, a maria clara but a fighter inside.

Never blame society for what is happening, everybody have the chance to be heard if you can first show them instead of telling them.

I guess this person has to get his facts straight. Here’s for you my dear.

I feel sorry for your mother, that she had to endure labor pains to give birth to you
I feel sorry for you sister
I feel sorry for your lady teachers who try to teach you good morals
I feel sorry for the waitress that serves your food
I feel sorry for the lady nurse who takes care of you
I feel sorry for the lady doctor who treats you
I feel sorry for the policewoman who keeps you safe
I feel sorry for the firewoman who saved your home
I feel sorry for your yaya who took care of you
I feel sorry for your girlfriend
I feel sorry for your lady friends
I feel sorry for all of them because they do not deserved to be looked down on by you

I feel sorry for you!

/sarcasm

On the other hand, you are one of the reasons why I will not be discouraged from empowering other women.

You want facts? Here are facts.

EXECUTIVES BY GENDER

Source: Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES)

YEAR
MALE EXECUTIVES
FEMALE EXECUTIVES
2002
1.4 million
1.86 million
2004
1.613 million
2.162 million
2006
1.629 million
2.257 million

These quotes are taken from Favored as Boys, Disadvantaged as Men

Not surprisingly, more and more women are being appointed to the bench. Although men still dominate the judiciary, with a total of 1,072 male justices and judges in 2004 (or three-fourths of the country’s salas), the number of female judges has been rising. In 2001, there were 276 females occupying the bench, from the Municipal Circuit Trial Court up to the Supreme Court. By 2004, there were 382 female magistrates.

Jimeno also predicts that in a few years, the legal profession will be dominated by women. She says that at the University of the Philippines College of Law, only one-third of students are males; the rest are females. “I cannot say if it’s (a) good or bad trend,” she says, but reiterates that women could be gaining more positions in courts and law firms because of the way they were raised.

Five years later, here’s the BLES study pointing to one big factor that shrink most of our men’s chances at juicy positions in the workplace: education. Only ten percent, or one out of 10 employed Filipino men finished college, while 20 percent of employed Filipino women did, it says. Aside from that, of the 12.8 million women working in 2006, 32.8 percent had some college education, or one in three. Meantime, of the 20.156 million men employed, only one out of five reached college.

MORE BAD news: the workplace is not the only area where the babied male is not doing so well. Marriage and parenting consultant Dr. Maribel Sison-Dionisio says the preferential treatment boys receive at home while they are growing up is one major cause of marriage breakdowns. She says that since many boys were not raised with a balance between play and discipline, the lack of discipline is brought into their relationships as adults. “In marriages, many men are found to be irresponsible,” she says, adding that the tendency to go easy on boys is now “backfiring.”

Next time, do your research.

MEN ARE NOT BETTER THAN WOMEN, WOMEN ARE NOT BETTER THAN MEN

MEN AND WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT

You cannot put a comparison operator between a man and a woman. The same way you can’t put any comparison operator between two people. Some people think associatively, some people think logically. Is one better than the other? NO!

You know what, do yourself a favor, go home and plant kamote. You have no right to put other people down. Your arrogance has no place in this blog. I am supporting FilipinaImages.com and this is another thing that we should tackle, sexual discrimination and oppression.

I’d like to quit blogging

As you guys have seen, I haven’t written anything for the past few weeks. I don’t even think blogging is worth my time. I still visit a few blogs but I don’t like blog-hopping anymore. Why? Simple, there’s too many fucktards out there! And you waste time debating against a fucktard! Everyone has a voice, and that’s one of the beauties of the blogosphere, but then again there’s also a lot of dumbasses out there too. Do you even want to waste your precious time reading their opinions? Hell no, I want to be more productive with my time. Blogging in a way is now stress rather than a stress relief. I wrote this blog as a form of therapy for me. I don’t need the stress from trolls and the like. No, I do not need that in my life! I don’t even make money out of this blog, it’s not worth it or stressing out. My favorite bloggers have their own trolls too, and it’s freaking annoying. These people have a lot of shit in their life and they want to make others pissed and miserable. Thank God for me, I do not rely on blogging as my source of income, I can immediately drop this. I’d rather play my guitar or keyboards and enjoy my music. And there’s a lot of other things that can relieve my stress. I think people took this statement to heart:

TIME FOR ACTION IS PAST, NOW IS THE TIME FOR SENSELESS BICKERING!

I saw that from a friend’s t-shirt.

Happy April Fools!

Here’s one for World of Warcraft Molten Core

UPDATE!!

Another one from Starcraft II, the Tauren Marine

X-men stuff on Youtube.com

Here’s X-men anime, they look cool, they’re much more loyal to the old version in terms of looks. The new X-men isn’t that good for me.

Another one is X-men minimates. This is soooo cute.

Happy Easter

Do you know who Jesus is? No, not the biblical Jesus, not the Messiah, not the Son of God. I mean, Jesus as a man. Do you even know how he felt, do you know his mistakes, do you know his frailty as a man?

The more I discover Jesus as a man, the more I love him. I’m not religious, I even hate going to Church. I get pale and claustrophobic once I’m inside the church. I would like to refer to the bible as not as divine text but as historical reference. I would like to read the other gospels since they would give me a better view of Jesus as man. Yes, even the gospel of Judas.

Jesus is probably the most tolerant, understanding and smartest people in history. He healed the sick, forgave prostitutes, he interacted with people who were the outcasts in ancient society. He has shown compassion in ways no one can even comprehend. And yes, he was human. He walked this earth as a man, and suffered the consequences of being one.

In other historical documents, Jesus wanted to topple the high priests of Jerusalem who are puppets of the Roman Empire, and paid with his life. He knew he was going to die, I can’t imagine the crisis he felt just days before his death. He was crucified because it was a crime to be King of the Jews, maybe not to save us from our sins, but who cares. Now historians are looking at Jesus in a different light, as a politician.

Son of God or not, Jesus is a great man. He did great things, he was way beyond his time. He taught mercy, love and compassion. So this easter, do you believe Jesus was resurrected? I have doubts, but this is where faith comes in.

Happy Easter to everyone!!

I’m happy for the new Pinoy nurses!

Why? Here’s my personal reasons, probably things other people don’t even think about.

-They want to be happy. If it means going abroad, so-be-it. They don’t want the insecurity of not finding a job.

-They want the adventure. Yes, the world out there is a great adventure. There’s so many cultures out there that are worthy of knowing. It’s also a re-education of us as a people and as an individual.

-They’re not doing this because they want to sacrifice themselves. I hate reading letters of OFWs talking about how miserable they are, and how their families use them to get money. I’m against unnecessary sacrifices. I want people to be HAPPY!

-They are exercising their choice. 80% want to leave the Philippines, decades ago, it was so hard to leave the country. Now, a lot of people have more options available.

-They are courageous enough to go out into the world. These nurses are very young, I could guess they’re in the early 20’s. Leaving the Philippines took a lot of strength, it was leaving my comfortable bubble.

We are very resilient people, part of our culture is the pinoy diaspora. And because of this diaspora, I have a huge chance of reuniting with my cousins outside the Philippines. I’m waiting for you guys!

After all the things that are said and done, I hope they chose nursing because they love doing it.

College Education Pinoy istayl

Child: Pa, I want to be a musician

Dad: There’s no money there.

Child: But I love music.

Dad: There’s no money there.

Child: How about chemistry.

Dad: It’s hard and still no money. How about nursing? That way you can go abroad and have money.

Child: But I don’t want to.

Dad: You’re pretty/handsome, why don’t you join those starstruck shows or something like that. And you can win a lot of money too. This way, you don’t need college.

Child: WTF???

Does this drive you crazy? But here’s what happened to me.

Parents: You go to college in the US. But just take the exams for Ateneo, DLSU and UP.

Me: Okay??…

Parents: Oh wait, no money. You go to college in the Philippines.

Me: Yay! I passed all 3!!! I want to go to Ateneo since I got the course I wanted, environmental science.

Dad: No, no money. I graduated in UPLB, you go to UPLB. You take up computer science because there’s money there.

Me: Why not?

Dad: Because we say so.

Aunt: Yes follow your dad.

Me: ummmm… okay, since I’m helpless without my parents right? I will follow you blindly. (imitating zombie movements) BRAINS!!! I need brains!!

Does everything revolve around money? Isn’t it funny, I’m pretty lucky that I actually enjoy coding. But some people are not as lucky as I am. I had a few classmates that didn’t even know what the course was about when they first got to college. As a result, they dropped out of the course or just failed one class after another. It’s not what they wanted.

And usually, filipino children are taught obedience. And we usually don’t fight it. As a parent, will you allow your child to pick his course?

When a child picks his/her college course, he’s usually 15 or 16 years old. Does that child know what career he wants at that age? Going to college at 18 makes a little more sense but not much. Do parents out there talk to their kids about which career path to take? My parents didn’t. I’m not alone in this case. There’s a lot of parents out there that just push their kids in degrees that they think is appropriate for their kids without even asking their own children.

I have a 5 year old, if he wants to be a musician one day, will I just let it happen knowing that he might risk being homeless. I don’t know, he’s 5 and I’m already worrying. I want my son to have the best life he can have, but to interfere with his choices means he will not grow as a person.

I won’t pressure him to be a nurse either, just because there’s money in it. When I was initially looking for a job, my dad offered to send me back to school to study nursing. I don’t think I can watch a patient die, I think I’ll just cry on the job.

The question is, how do we tell our parents that their choices are not what we want? I wish I knew, I could’ve done differently. This also taught me not to do this to my child and future children (if ever).

Things that didn’t sit well with me this week

1. Country version of a Beatles song sang by Kristie Lee Cook on American Idol

2. Binibining Pilipinas Q&A portion

I don’t even want to explain. It’s just seems so wrong, I just can’t put my finger on it.
